The Optimism Foundation stewards the Optimism Collective, the governance and funding body of the OP Stack and Superchain ecosystem. It deploys OP tokens through two main channels: Grants Council programs (growth and builder grants) and Retro Funding, which rewards contributors retroactively for measurable impact. Since 2025 Retro Funding operates as ongoing Missions (such as Dev Tooling and Onchain Builders) with rolling application windows and metrics-driven evaluation rather than annual rounds.1,2,3
