Meta's second Llama Impact Grants call awarded more than $1.5 million to 10 companies, startups, and universities using open-source Llama models for social and economic impact. Applications for that round closed in November 2024, and recipients were announced in April 2025.
The Mozilla Technology Fund (MTF) gave awards of up to $50,000 plus a 12-month mentorship cohort to open-source projects tackling a themed public-interest technology challenge each round. The latest sourced cohort is the 2024 AI and Environmental Justice round; no later public call is on file.

NSF FINDERS FOUNDRY announces planning grants for K-12 educators, technologists, researchers, and parents/guardians to develop and scale evidence-based tools for an AI-driven future. Eligible teams may apply for planning grants to prepare for larger implementation projects. The deadline is May 27, 2026.
Small grants to help NumFOCUS's fiscally sponsored and affiliated open-source scientific computing projects improve usability, grow their communities, and speed release cycles. Calls for proposals normally run 3x/year; applications are currently closed while NumFOCUS updates its financial and administrative systems.

The OpenAI Foundation's AI Resilience program funds work in bio-resilience, cyber-resilience, AI model safety, and research on AI's effects on young people. As of June 1, 2026, the Foundation said it was finalizing more than $130 million in grants and had not announced a public application route.
A $50 million fund for 2026 from the OpenAI Foundation making unrestricted, one-time grants to US 501(c)(3) nonprofits with annual budgets between $500,000 and $10 million (priority $1-8 million; select regranters under $15 million), across community support services, community arts and cultural organizations, and community journalism and media. Grants run up to 10% of an organization's annual budget with light-touch reporting, and do not require use of OpenAI products.

Schmidt Sciences' Science of Trustworthy AI program funds technical research to understand, predict, and control risks from advanced AI systems, across three aims: characterizing/forecasting misalignment in frontier models, developing generalizable measurement and intervention, and overseeing superhuman-capability and multi-agent systems. Awardees also receive compute, software engineering support, and frontier-model API credits. Funded in two tiers (up to $1M; $1M-$5M+ over 1-3 years) across sub-tracks including "Understanding Safety in AI Systems" (23 awards) and "Inference-Time Compute" (10 awards).
