Schmidt Polymaths
Schmidt Polymaths is a Schmidt Sciences program that gives researchers up to $2.5 million each over five years in flexible funding for experimentation that conventional grants may not cover. Candidates are nominated by universities worldwide and evaluated on past accomplishments and future ambitions. Eligible researchers reached tenure or an equivalent milestone within the prior three years and have a track record that already spans more than one area of expertise. Eight 2026 Polymaths were announced on 22 September 2026, the sixth cohort, receiving up to $20 million combined.
