Chimaera Fund
The Chimaera Fund is a Renaissance Philanthropy fund that aims to scale geologic hydrogen responsibly and quickly by the 2030s, investing in open-access field demonstrations and advising governments on policy. Its public funding call so far is the Geologic Hydrogen Site Access Challenge, an RFP launched in November 2025 that gave university teams access to proprietary exploration well data from HyTerra in eastern Kansas. A $250,000 catalytic grant from Builders Vision funded it. The fund received 20 proposals, advanced 12 to full technical review, and awarded the full $250,000 across three teams from Texas A&M, UT Austin and New Mexico Tech for 12 months of open research. The RFP is closed, and the site shows no open call or application route at present.
