Rosalind Biodefense Program
OpenAI's Rosalind Biodefense Program, launched on 29 May 2026, sponsors free GPT-Rosalind API use and launch support for trusted developers building defensive applications of AI in the life sciences. Target work includes non-pharmaceutical interventions, epidemiological modeling, biosurveillance, preparedness and medical countermeasure development. Academic, nonprofit, government-affiliated and small-to-midsized company teams with a clear public benefit can apply, and OpenAI says the program is open to qualified applicants globally. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, must address biosecurity and access controls, and should be intended for licensing or distribution for public benefit. A separate trusted-access request route exists for select U.S. government and allied partners.
