Ecosystem Funds
Ecosystem Funds is a collaboration between Open Source Collective, which administers the program, and ecosyste.ms. Donors sponsor a curated fund for a language, framework or package, and money is allocated to critical projects in that ecosystem according to their usage among the other dependencies in it. Open Source Collective's April 2025 update says 100% of donations in every fund with a balance of $1,000 or more are allocated monthly, minus a 10% management fee, and the FAQ sets a minimum of $50 per project. There is no application: money is sent through the platforms projects list in their funding.yml files, and projects without one are invited to choose a platform or accept funds directly. The program was announced on 9 December 2024 and became generally available on 4 April 2025 with 291 ecosystems.
