Tech Journalism Fund
Omidyar Network's Tech Journalism Fund provides $5,000 to $25,000 in project funding to cover reporting costs for journalists working on a single, time and resource intensive reporting project. Proposals on any topic where technology and society intersect are welcome, with priority for legislation and policy on regulating AI and the tech sector, investigations of the companies, organizations and people shaping AI and tech, the impact of AI on children, youth and families, and how workers and employers are handling AI in the workplace. Freelancers, staff reporters, editors and teams working in any medium are eligible, but the fund is currently open only to US-based journalists. Covered costs include travel, research and fact-checking support, multimedia enhancement, data access and stipends for reporting time, and every proposal needs a detailed budget. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and generally reviewed within 30 days, and only accepted applicants are contacted. Omidyar Network launched the fund on October 15, 2025.
