Reporters in Residence
Omidyar Network's Reporters in Residence program, running since 2023, supports freelance journalists in six-month residencies pursuing rigorous reporting on technology and society. Each journalist receives a monthly stipend, travel expenses and access to Omidyar Network staff and partners, and keeps full editorial control and discretion over their work. The 2026 class of nine reporters, the program's largest cohort, was announced on January 15, 2026 and focuses largely on power dynamics in the AI revolution. The previous application window opened October 15, 2025 and ran to November 15, 2025, with selections announced the week of December 15. The program page says applications are currently closed and should reopen in October 2026, and asks readers to check the page for updates.
