NWO UKB Leo Waaijers Open Science Award
The Leo Waaijers Open Science Award is presented by UKB and NWO, with Open Science NL, to recognise open science initiatives in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The prize is EUR 50,000, to reinforce, expand or launch initiatives, and NWO's page says it must be spent within three years. Anyone, researcher or not, individual or group, can be nominated for one main initiative carried out after 24 October 2023 at an organisation based in the Kingdom of the Netherlands; earlier winners are excluded. Nominations for the 2026 award ran from 21 April to 23 June 2026 and are closed, and a news item on the page reports Dr Flávio Azevedo received the 2026 award for his work on FORRT. The award is presented each year at the Open Science Festival, and the pages give no dates for the next edition.
