Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (MFAI)
MFAI is jointly sponsored by four NSF directorates: Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Engineering, and Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences. It supports research collaborations among mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists, engineers and social and behavioral scientists. The aim is a mathematical understanding of AI's capabilities and limits and principled, theoretically grounded design and analysis methods, toward AI that is explainable, interpretable and trustworthy.
