Evidence for AI in Health (EVAH)
Evidence for AI in Health (EVAH) is a US$60 million joint investment of the Gates Foundation, the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Wellcome, delivered with J-PAL and the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), that funds locally led evaluations of AI health tools in low- and middle-income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. The first RFP covered AI-enabled clinical decision support tools for frontline workers in primary and community health care. Pathway A funds real-world evaluation of early-deployment tools, up to USD 1,000,000, and Pathway B funds rigorous impact evaluations of tools ready for scale, up to USD 3,000,000. Nonprofits, for-profits, international organizations, government agencies, academic institutions and collaborations could apply, with proposals led by institutions based in the focus regions. The Spring 2026 RFP opened February 20, 2026 and closed April 1, 2026, and all notifications have been sent. No later RFP is announced.
