ITL Grant Program
NIST's Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) awards grants and cooperative agreements for research, or a recipient's share of collaborative research, in fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, biometrics, privacy engineering and health information technology. Awards are made under NIST's Measurement Science and Engineering (MSE) Research Grant Programs notice of funding opportunity, FY25 number 2025-NIST-MSE-01, with anticipated amounts of $10,000 to $500,000 per year and project periods of up to five years. The notice is open to non-federal entities including universities, non-profits, for-profit organizations and state and local governments; individuals and unincorporated sole proprietors are not eligible. Applications are submitted through Grants.gov. A June 2026 amendment replaced rolling review with a September 15, 2026 deadline, and the opportunity is now listed as closed. ITL's program page, updated September 30, 2026, lists FY2026 financial assistance awards but states no later notice or deadline.
