Gulf Research Program Early-Career Research Fellowships
The Gulf Research Program, a National Academies program, runs the Early-Career Research Fellowships for scientists, engineers and health professionals at the pre-tenure phase of their careers. The fellowship provides relatively unrestricted funds and mentoring for research on offshore energy system safety and the well-being of coastal communities and ecosystems. For the 2026 to 2028 application cycle it offers a Community Track on climate risk, health and decision making, an Energy Track on legacy energy systems and an Environment Track on ecosystem health, and projects must focus on communities in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The 2026 application windows ran from February 4 to June 2, 2026 and are closed. Eight Community Track fellows are listed, with a news release dated October 5, 2026, and the Energy and Environment Track announcements are scheduled for November 2 and December 1, 2026. No later application window is posted.
