NASA TechRise Student Challenge
NASA's TechRise Student Challenge invites teams of sixth to 12th grade students at U.S. public, private or charter schools, guided by an educator, to propose experiments to fly on a NASA-sponsored test flight. For 2026-27 the flight platform is a high-altitude balloon. NASA selects 60 winning teams, and each receives $1,500 to build its experiment, a starter kit with a flight box, an assigned spot on the flight and virtual mentoring and technical support. Teams need at least four students and a teacher or school employee as team lead. Entries were due on 2 November 2026, winners are announced on 19 January 2027, and the experiments fly in summer 2027.
