MLCommons ML and Systems Rising Stars
MLCommons runs an annual ML and Systems Rising Stars program that selects early-career researchers at the intersection of machine learning and systems for community building, research and career growth, and an in-person workshop. It is open to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers at academic or industry institutions, with no strict requirement on year of study. Applications ask for a CV, a 120-second video statement, a 500-word research statement, a 300-word motivation and goals statement and a reference letter. The program is partly funded by the EDGE AI FOUNDATION Scholarship Fund and no award amount is stated. Applications for 2026 closed on 18 March 2026, and MLCommons announced the fourth cohort, 39 researchers from 26 institutions selected from over 175 applicants, on 19 May 2026.
