Nuclear Weapons Policy Fund
The Nuclear Weapons Policy Fund is Longview Philanthropy's grantmaking vehicle for reducing catastrophic nuclear risk, run by its nuclear weapons policy program under Carl Robichaud and Matthew Gentzel. Donations are managed through Giving What We Can, and all funds are disbursed on recommendations by Longview. It funds applied research that prepares implementation-ready proposals for future policy windows, Track 1.5 and Track 2 dialogues between major powers, and talent development for technical experts heading into government roles. Focus areas include future-proofing nuclear deterrence with attention to AI-enabled targeting, space-based capabilities and missile defense, and managing nuclear competition including arms control after New START's expiration. Grants are identified through Longview's own investigation and often co-funded with partners.
