Emerging Challenges Fund
The Emerging Challenges Fund was a public fund managed by Longview Philanthropy with support from Giving What We Can, launched in August 2022 so any donor could support work on extreme risks from emerging technologies. More than 2,000 donors contributed, and the fund granted more than $3.5 million to organizations working to reduce risks from advanced AI, engineered pathogens and nuclear weapons. Longview is closing the fund and no longer accepts new donations. Donations already in progress that Giving What We Can receives by 30 September 2026 are included in the final grant round, and a final grant report is planned for later this year. All funds are disbursed on recommendations by Longview Philanthropy.
