Lightcone Commons funding rounds
Lightcone Commons is a Lightcone Infrastructure platform, powered by the S-Process, that connects funders with giving opportunities and lets evaluators vet applications. It accepts applications on a rolling basis with no specific deadlines and intends to hold funding rounds every month. Grants can go to 501(c)(3)s, individuals, for-profits, educational institutions and non-US organizations, anywhere in the world, with fiscal sponsorship for individuals whose work is charitable. An application needs to be submitted three weeks before a round closes, and applications that miss one round carry over to the next. The next round is planned to close in mid-December, with evaluator recommendations expected by December 1. Funders for the current round include Jaan Tallinn, the Long Term Future Fund and ARM Fund at about $2M each, and smaller donors; Dustin Moskovitz funded the first round.
