Kaia Ecosystem Fund (KEF)

The Kaia Ecosystem Fund (KEF) is funded by 25% of the KAIA issued in each block and is used for activities that improve the Kaia ecosystem. Planned uses include Service Contribution Rewards for developers and users, developer community programs such as hackathons, education, academic research and DAO collaborations, ecosystem infrastructure and services with marketing support, indirect investment through specialized crypto VCs, and budgets for sector committees in Gaming, DeFi and Community. The Kaia Foundation submits a quarterly budget proposal for each category to the Kaia Governance Council, which approves the budget and then reviews and approves each specific use in public forums on Kaia Square. New proposals for KEF use are made through the Governance Council and need individual approval, and the documentation says a structure allowing more ecosystem participants to propose and take part is planned.
