Research Ready
Research Ready supports undergraduates and recent graduates from underrepresented backgrounds to enter engineering and science research through fully funded summer placements at UK universities. The Royal Academy of Engineering runs it, delivered with the Royal Society and supported by the Leverhulme Trust, with Google DeepMind and The Hg Foundation as Founding Partners. Each host institution receives a package of some £50,000 covering an above-living-wage stipend, accommodation, travel, event and administrative costs, and hosts six participants for eight-week placements. UK university science and engineering departments applied to host summer 2027 placements, with applications closing at 4pm on 29 October 2026. Students looking for placements can find information on the Academy's page from mid-January 2027. Google DeepMind's page lists 11 universities delivering placements in summer 2026.
