Web AI Acceleration Fund

Chrome runs the Web AI Acceleration Fund through Open Collective, with Open Source Collective as fiscal host. Chrome announced it on January 24, 2025 to foster AI innovation and adoption in the open web ecosystem. It focuses on four areas: enabling developers to build AI with JavaScript, running LLMs in the browser through the WebGPU API and the Prompt API, framework support for in-browser AI, and AI-powered developer tools and utilities. It supports work such as improving existing web AI libraries, tools that optimize AI performance in browsers, educational resources and demos, and AI integration into popular web frameworks. Open-source maintainers apply by completing the form on the project's Open Collective page, which also offers a Request Grant action. Paid payouts listed on the page include $10,212 for FunctionGemma with Transformers.js (November 2025 to January 2026) and $2,400 and $600 for AudioMassAI research and development.
