Single Shield Prize
BARDA's Division of Research, Innovation, and Ventures (DRIVe) sponsors the Single Shield Prize, administered by Luminary Labs, for vaccine developers, researchers, biotech companies and other innovators. The competition funds single-administration vaccine platforms for pandemic influenza A(H5N1) across three stages, from concept papers through nonclinical proof of concept to IND readiness. The prize expects to award more than $80 million in total, with a $32 million Concept Stage pool paying up to $4 million each to up to eight winners. Entrants first submit a Declaration of Intent by 2027-01-05 and then a concept paper by 2027-01-15 through the awards platform. The Concept Stage opens on 2026-08-05 and Stage 1 is anticipated in Q2 2027.
