Berkeley Existential Risk Initiative (BERI)

BERI is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity focused on reducing existential risk and advancing AI safety. It operates as an operational intermediary, supporting more than 150 groups through university collaborations and fiscal sponsorship — providing financial management, HR support, and grant administration so researchers can focus on substantive work. Since its 2017 founding it has deployed over $33 million across roughly 115 research groups.¹
