Grant programs across
crypto, AI and open source.
Who funds them, what they fund and how to apply.
The Ethereum Foundation's primary direct grants program, supporting free and open-source projects, builder tools, infrastructure, and research that strengthen Ethereum's technical, social, and research foundations. After pausing unsolicited open grants in August 2025, ESP relaunched in November 2025 as a Wishlist and Requests-for-Proposals program. Applicants apply against posted items; time-limited open rounds are a separate, currently empty track. Quarterly allocation reports break awards into community and education, cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs, developer tooling, consensus and execution layers, and application infrastructure.
A $1 million Ethereum Foundation-backed program administered through Areta Market that subsidizes professional security reviews for Ethereum mainnet builders. Applications are organized into recurring cohorts, with eligible projects receiving support toward audit costs.
Filecoin Foundation's open developer grants programme, run in numbered waves, with an Open Grants track (up to $50,000) and a smaller Microgrants track. Funded work must be open-sourced under a dual MIT/ Apache 2.0 license.
Rolling Arbitrum OpCo grants for feasibility research and groundwork that can lead to larger DAO initiatives. The $50,000 fund offers up to $10,000 per grant across revenue, non-DeFi builder support, ecosystem unification, and open-track work.
The Future of Life Institute's grantmaking, which funds research and projects reducing large-scale risks from powerful technologies -- advanced AI safety and governance, biotechnology/bio-risk, and nuclear weapons -- via targeted Requests for Proposals and Contests published on a regular but irregular basis. FLI does not accept unsolicited requests; applicants must respond to an open RFP, Contest, or fellowship call.
FLOSS/fund provides roughly $1M per year to free and open source projects; applicants create a funding.json manifest in their repo and apply through its public directory.
Top-down grant track for growth-stage teams building on Flow; milestone-based proposals (roadmap, funding request per milestone, budget justification, success metrics) reviewed internally by the Flow Foundation. Size and round schedule not published.
FOSS United Foundation runs a grants program (a 25-lakh INR budget as of 2025) for FOSS projects and developers in India, covering both event grants and project grants via an online application.
Co-Impact's Foundational Fund supports efforts to deliver lasting change to health, education, and economic systems across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and to advance gender equality.
CSET's Foundational Research Grants program funds external research on emerging-technology questions with national-security relevance. Its AI work includes model deception, release strategies, uncertainty, frontier-model auditing, post-deployment monitoring, and internal deployment risks.

Delivered via country-specific calls for proposals through the Grantelope grant management system, administered by MannionDaniels/Oxford Policy Management on Gavi's behalf.
Gitcoin deploys treasury assets into Octant v2 yield-donating vaults and routes the generated yield into future domain-specific grant matching pools while preserving the principal. Gitcoin reports that the governance-approved model was implemented in 2026.
Gitcoin's Flows directory connects applicants to continuous, community-curated funding streams. Applicants select an active flow aligned with their project and apply through that flow.
A GitHub program investing in the security of critical open source projects: each accepted project receives $10,000 ($6,000 during the program, $2,000 at the 6-month check-in, $2,000 at the 12-month check-in) paired with a 3-week security education program and expert support. Open to current maintainers (individual or teams of up to 3) of projects with a valid open source license, community adoption, and established governance; applications are rolling and considered for upcoming sessions.
Status describes whether a program is running. Application methods are recorded separately. Read the funder’s terms before applying.
